Injury Report
The Oklahoma City Thunder are dealing with a devastating wave of injuries. Chet Holmgren will miss at least 8-10 weeks after undergoing a biological treatment for a small patellar tendon tear, joining Jalen Williams (fractured left fibula, ankle surgery) and Cason Wallace (torn left shoulder labrum) on the sidelines. All three are expected to miss significant time, leaving the Thunder extremely shorthanded. Jared McCain, Kenrich Williams, and Jaylin Williams are among those expected to absorb the extra minutes.
Paolo Banchero is set to miss four to six weeks with a right high-ankle sprain suffered in Friday's loss to the Timberwolves. Jalen Duren will be re-evaluated in two weeks after straining his right hamstring in Friday's win over Miami, with Paul Reed stepping into the starting lineup. Ja Morant was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and will miss approximately four weeks, leaving Jrue Holiday to run the Trail Blazers' backcourt.
Anthony Edwards underwent successful arthroscopic debridement surgery on his right knee Thursday. Minnesota has not announced a timetable, but previous reporting suggests he could miss up to two months. Edwards had been averaging 33.3 points across four games this season. LeBron James and Joel Embiid each played in Philadelphia's Friday win over New York but are considered day-to-day with the Sixers facing a back-to-back Saturday in Charlotte.
Standout Performances
Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered a dominant triple-double for the Miami Heat on Thursday, finishing with 31 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 assists in a blowout 145-125 win over Indiana. It was a vintage performance from the two-time MVP as Miami ran away from the Pacers in a high-scoring affair.
Scottie Barnes had a remarkable night for Toronto despite a loss, pouring in 41 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists against Orlando. Stephen Curry continued his strong start, pouring in 31 points and knocking down eight or more threes in Golden State's 112-95 win over the Lakers. Walker Kessler had a standout defensive outing for LA in the loss, recording 10 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks.
Notable Results
Miami's 145-125 demolition of Indiana was the headliner, a high-scoring performance fueled by Giannis's triple-double that saw the Heat pull away comfortably. The Minnesota Timberwolves also took care of business with a 127-101 blowout of the LA Clippers, a dominant result even with the injury concerns surrounding the franchise. Ten games were played in total on Thursday.
