Injury Report
Jalen Williams is officially week-to-week after suffering a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Oklahoma City's April 22 win over Phoenix. Head coach Mark Daigneault confirmed the news Monday, and Williams should be considered doubtful until the Thunder provide a further update. Ajay Mitchell and Cason Wallace are expected to see increased minutes in his absence.
Kevin Huerter is questionable for Game 1 after missing three straight games with a left adductor strain. If the Pistons sharpshooter can't go, Javonte Green figures to pick up extra minutes off the bench. Carter Bryant is also questionable for Monday night's game; Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes could absorb his spot in the rotation.
Ayo Dosunmu is questionable for the Timberwolves with right calf soreness, the same issue that kept him out of Minnesota's Game 7 win over Denver. The good news for Minnesota is that Anthony Edwards is back in the lineup after his own knee issue, which significantly softens the blow of Dosunmu's potential absence. Dosunmu is targeting a return for Game 2 on Wednesday in San Antonio.
On the cleared list, Joel Embiid, Anthony Edwards, and Jeremy Sochan have all been removed from the injury report.
Standout Performances
Victor Wembanyama put together a jaw-dropping stat line in San Antonio's narrow Game 1 loss to Minnesota, finishing with 11 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and a remarkable 12 blocks. The 12-block performance is the kind of historically rare effort that underscores Wembanyama's unique defensive impact, even as the Spurs came up just short in a 104-102 defeat.
Notable Results
The Minnesota Timberwolves edged the San Antonio Spurs 104-102 in a tight Game 1 opener. Despite Wembanyama's monster performance on the defensive end, the Spurs couldn't close out the two-point deficit, giving Minnesota an early series lead heading into Game 2 on Wednesday in San Antonio.
The New York Knicks handled the Philadelphia 76ers in dominant fashion, winning 137-98 in what was a blowout from the opening tip. The 39-point margin left little doubt, as the Knicks rolled to a commanding Game 1 victory. Philadelphia will need a significant turnaround before the series returns for Game 2.
